Please, Please Stay at Home and Save Lives—COVID19 Pandemic
The world is at war with an unknown enemy, which has its stems rooted into the very fabric of our lives, spanning across continents, weakening the eco-system of connectedness in the economic world, debilitating lives, separating loved ones—unwittingly undressing our souls on the day we are needing it the most—a pandemic that is undoubtedly public enemy number one.
Yet, how did it come this far, crippling the strongest of the nations, overwhelming health centers with its accelerating numbers and putting funeral services indexed, without a single loved one around to pay his/her last respects?
We are all in pain, and the burden indisputably multiplies when more people are getting infected with it globally. Several countries are in lockdown, which of course is the best mitigation measures to stop the spread, yet more people are seemingly not following the orders, it seems.
So we as people, what can we do?
The answer lies within us—it is us who can stop its spread just by staying inside our homes. Yes, as we continue to hear from different governments across the globe continuously emphasizing its importance, I can't stress it enough, how vital this becomes, for our race to flatten the curve during such unprecedented times.
It is important to note that the elderly are at high risk, therefore, any reverse action by us, could in-turn have a devastating impact on those around us. A regular, carefully regimented handwashing practice could also prove critical in eliminating the virus, should a person come into contact with it.
With so much misinformation floating around, it becomes our responsibility to fact check any piece of information that we come across, before disseminating it to our immediate ones. This could not only prevent unwanted panic but eventually save lives in the chain of events that follow.
Such is the complexity, with each second compounding it further, that we are unable to contain the global numbers. But we can certainly flatten the curve.
As the new cloud tries to oversee our race, please also show compassion towards those around us, not by visiting anybody but through making a courtesy call, and just checking on those who may be left behind, including the vulnerable members of the society. A light breeze of words could in turn ignite spark in someone's life and give them a sense of belonging, satisfaction and hope that is to come.
So light a candle or provide the less fortunate ones with groceries, all but a test for us, majorly dependent on what each of us does.
In the end, we are all in this together, and each action or inaction by our fellow people could inturn be the next determinant, the thin line between success and failure.
Please stay indoors and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
