Gaslighting- What Everyone Wants You to Believe?

Ever been so brainwashed or induced by the person next to you that you begin to question your own reality. Well, to the majority, with each day getting significantly incomprehensible, being presented with such an uninteresting yet overly static scenario, there is no escaping it for the most part of our lives. “Gaslighting is a tactic in which a person or entity, in order to gain more power, makes a victim question their reality.” (Psychology Today, 2017)

The world is as attractive as it is blunt, just like a torn kite, both on the same spectrum. The idea of evolving as a human being, being presented with new and sometimes conflicting ideas- well that is part of life and everyday growing up. The child or the rational adult is presented with enticing levels of information, which after transcendence, leads him to question the nature of his own reality. This has overtime developed into many phases and the majorly upsetting part of this is that it seems to have been streamlined craftily into such professionalism.

As for me, growing up had been an intense, insufficient information and guidance and high vulnerability, each stone it seems, it had the power to incite me. I was brought up believing in so many things, which, for the majority of my lifespan- I had thought of as the only truth that there was. And I wouldn’t blame the immediate society for being such merciful on me- for showing me the so called right knowledge. Now that, after so much research and freethinking, I have been able to put things into assertion and the immediate reaction to this surrounding- it has become densely plagued by the idea of Gaslighting, there isn’t a minute one is not confronted with such modest ideas.

It seems that people have been given this artistic life just to make others believe in what they believe, and are convinced beyond narration- there isn’t any alternative reality left to comprehend. Well, to this and to each idea that tries to plummet its way up the hierarchy- life isn’t as plain as red sugar that one deserves to be the victim of Gaslighting.

Yet here we are, seeing each curtain rise and fall and there is no rising again- there is no one to help and all that is, a distorted mind constrained to such psychological parameters. People seem to have such vigorously-in craft of the skill, their impulsion and attachment to an idea is so dangerous, a nation out of thin ice could ignite overnight.

People around me, they tend to question my own reality- one which I know, and am aware of the consequences if I were to live otherwise, a conformant to this self-inflicted society. At least I try to think for myself, but my heart pours out to everyone who has ever been a victim or continues to being one- being presented with contradicting ideas all throughout the day, now that life it seems, there isn’t any part of individualism or freethinking left here.

Inciters can be anywhere, holding a jug of grey alcohol trying to lure new victims in, that’s the way they have always been. So as each day gets infected with new and open thoughts, please remember that you are a special human and at the end of the day, you do not need anyone’s ideas or viewpoints to form the basis of your own reality. Know that you are creative and that you are capable enough of thinking for yourself.
